Support

Warranty and support

Every new Africa Marine outboard motor is backed by warranty cover and supported through our dealer network for servicing and spare parts.

What cover includes

Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship on a new engine, subject to the terms confirmed with your purchase. Cover terms differ by model and by whether the engine is used for leisure or commercial work, so confirm the specific terms for your engine with your dealer before you buy.

Keeping cover valid

  • Have the engine serviced at the intervals in your manual, and keep the records.
  • Use the fuel, oil and lubricants specified for your model.
  • Flush the engine with fresh water after use, especially in salt water.
  • Use authorised dealers for warranty work and genuine parts.
  • Don't modify the engine or exceed your boat's rated horsepower.

Our servicing and spares guide covers routine maintenance in more detail.

Making a claim

  1. Stop using the engine if continuing could cause further damage.
  2. Gather the model, serial number, purchase details and service records.
  3. Contact the supplying dealer, or Africa Marine on 021 511 0653.
  4. Have the engine assessed by an authorised dealer before any repair work is done.

Common questions

Are Africa Marine outboard motors under warranty?
Yes. Every new Africa Marine outboard motor is supplied with warranty cover. The exact term and conditions are confirmed in writing with your purchase, so ask your dealer or contact us for the current terms on your model.
What can void an outboard motor warranty?
Common causes are missed or undocumented services, use of incorrect fuel or oil, unauthorised modification, impact or grounding damage, corrosion from not flushing after salt water, and commercial use of an engine supplied for leisure use.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Contact the dealer who supplied the engine, or Africa Marine directly, with the engine model, serial number, purchase details and your service records. Do not have unauthorised repair work done first, as this can affect the claim.
